If renting a car, keep in mind that many credit cards often include rental car insurance in their coverage, so look into the details of your bank’s coverage first before opting into the rental car company’s insurance add-on. If you plan on driving your own car on a road trip, it’s a smart idea to check with your auto insurance policy to see what is covered in the case of a road trip and what won’t be, so you’re aware of the risks and what you may need as far as additional trip coverage goes. It’s almost always advisable to get travel insurance, but a lot of travelers overlook this if they’re planning a trip that doesn’t require them to get on a flight. Travel insurance is one of those things you don’t think you need…until you do. While most places take cards or Venmo/PayPal these days, you’ll inevitably stumble on a place or two that doesn’t, so it’s always helpful to have at least a little cash in your wallet. Especially if you’re road tripping through a bunch of national parks or state parks in the US, you’ll find that cash is often useful at these sites. A simple grocery store shopping bag works fine, but you could also opt for a trash can designed specifically for cars too. Trash accumulates fast on road trips, so you’ll want to have one central place to put everything so your car isn’t a mess. I also love packing up the cooler with Harmless Harvest Coconut Water and Spindriftfor a little variety. Staying hydrated is so important on the road, and making sure you have water at all times is essential. Here are a few of my go-to’s: RxBar, Hippeas, apples + almond butter, GoMacro Bars, Overnight Oats by Dave’s Naturals, and Snapea Crisps. Plus, this is a great way to save money on food if you’re traveling on a budget. I love doing a big Costco run before a road trip to grab stuff in bulk, especially if it’s a long trip to ensure I have enough to last me for awhile. Unless you’re ok with gas station fare, make sure to pack your own snacks. I’ve traveled enough through the US to know that some parts of the country can feel like a health-food desert. Yeti is a great brand with both hard-sided and soft-sided options (and the soft-sided foldable ones are great if you’re flying to your road trip starting point). Having a cooler stocked with a few of your favorite snacks and refreshments to help you get by to the next stop is definitely a long road trip essential. No one likes a hangry passenger, and there’s nothing worse than having to stop and find a place to eat every time hunger strikes. Below are my top recommendations for road trip necessities that you shouldn’t get in the car without: 1. No matter what type of road trip you’re embarking on, there are some things that are guaranteed to make your time on the road easier-and more enjoyable. The Absolute Road Trip Essentials Packing List Packing for a road trip though has different requirements than packing for other types of trips, and there are some essential items that you’ll want to have on hand, along with a few fun things you don’t necessarily need…but that you’ll be glad to have on any long drive.Īssuming you’ve already packed the basics like clothes, toiletries, etc., here’s my tried-and-true list of road trip essentials. Yes, air travel might get you to your destination a lot quicker, but there are a lot of pros to traveling by car, like the flexibility to change your plans at the last minute, and of course, being able to pull over at a moment’s notice (you never know when a kitschy roadside attraction or killer sunset might pop up). I love road trips more than any other kind of travel, and living in California where there are so many beautiful places to explore within driving distance allows me to take them quite often. I’ve learned through plenty of mishaps along the way that there are some road trip essentials you don’t want to leave the house without.

Populations can also be reduced with hostile entities, illnesses, etc. Conversely, the game also allows the destruction of worlds, ranging from explosives to natural disasters, such as earthquakes, volcanoes, and acid rain. These are divided into several groups: World Creation, Civilizations, Creatures, Nature and Disasters, Destruction Powers, and Other Powers. The game's main feature is the ability to create worlds, using godlike tools known as "God powers" provided in the game. Everyone living in that household can use Netflix wherever they are - at home, on the go, on holiday - and take advantage of new features like Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices. A Netflix account is for use by one household. “Starting today, we will be sending this email to members who are sharing Netflix outside their household in the United States. Here’s what Netflix’s announcement about the crackdown on password-sharing explained, about the initiative finally rolling out fully in the US: The Netflix password sharing crackdown, broadly, aims to limit account sharing among users in multiple locations (such as when a child, away at college, is still borrowing the password to their parents’ Netflix account). Image source: Rafael Henrique/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images Understanding the Netflix password-sharing crackdown In this photo illustration, the Netflix logo in the App Store is seen displayed on a smartphone screen. What does this mean for you, and how can you navigate these changes? Let’s dive in. At one point, something on the order of 100 million users were characterized by Netflix as password-sharers, meaning the company wasn’t capturing a penny in revenue from them. But, if you didn’t get to catch it in a theater, you can watch Last Shift for free on Tubi.Few things illustrate that shift as well as Netflix now, in 2023, having fully implemented a crackdown on password sharing - affecting not only users who share accounts outside of their households, but also the company’s bottom line. In Malum, Jessica Sula takes on the role of Jessica Loren, and the reviews thus far have been pretty positive. It tells the same basic story, with some tweaks added in, and although I haven’t had the chance to see it yet, I am definitely going to catch it once it is available On Demand. It’s an underappreciated horror gem, and most fans of the genre agree with that assessment when they finally watch it.Īnthony Blasi, who wrote and directed Last Shift, also took the writing and directing helm for Malum. Last Shift continuously amps up, and doesn’t wind down until the gut-wrenching ending. The homeless man reappears, chairs and other items start moving around on their own, and finally, Loren’s once-boring night at work becomes a true horror show. When the rookie contacts dispatch for help, she is assured that all calls are set up to go to the new station, but Monica keeps calling the old location instead. Then she begins getting phone calls from “Monica”, who claims to have been taken hostage by a cult. It starts with the appearance of a homeless man she finds urinating in the hallway. But soon enough, Loren’s evening begins to take a bizarre turn, and that’s where the terror comes in. It’s an easy enough job at first, even a boring one. She is in fact the only officer working the creepy, mostly empty building that fateful night, and she has been instructed to remain at her post until the HAZMAT team arrives to remove some evidence from the station. Loren has been assigned to work the last shift at a police station that is being permanently closed (the department has moved to a new building). She is determined to do a good job, despite the fact that her mother is constantly pleading with her to follow another career path. Loren is following in the footsteps of her father, a police officer who was killed on duty years earlier. Last Shift spends much of its storyline focused on a young woman named Jessica Loren (Juliana Harkavy), a rookie police officer. I too am a longtime horror fan, and while I truly, madly, deeply love horror, most of it doesn’t really unsettle me too much. And one of the films I always tell them to watch is Last Shift. There are a small handful of films I recommend these people check out, but I always tell them to start by turning out the lights, putting their phone away, and watching these movies alone for maximum effect. You know how people in social media horror groups are always bemoaning the fact that no horror film actually scares them anymore? They always end up begging fellow horror fans to recommend a movie that will keep them awake at night. You may even know that Malum is a reboot of a 2014 film called Last Shift. If you are a horror fan, you are probably aware of Malum, which just received a limited theatrical release. The hotel is conveniently located and staffs were friendly. I came to LA for my son's graduation and stayed here for 5 nights. Overall, I don't recommend staying at this hotel. For what they offer, the price is kind of high compared to other hotels of this class in the area. The parking again, is free, but a small lot so very limited. The pool area is nice and well manicured. It's not in a bad area, but it's on the line between safe & questionable. is exactly known for.The hotel is located right next to a subway station, so if you are accustomed to sleeping at night without being awoken to sirens anc police breaking up conflicts between folks at the station, don't stay at this hotel. They also seem to think they are well versed to L.A.'s good resturaunts, but when we asked them where a good place to eat was, all they could suggest was Sizzler.not what L.A. Also, they will tell you one thing, and do another - again, not professional. They seemed to take it personally and were not professional. Our issue was minor, but after making them aware, we received snotty looks from two of the female front desk clerks for the duration of our stay. If you have an issue during your stay, don't expect to be able to complain without the female staff being rude to you. This hotel is clean and the parking is free, but that is it for the positives. You'll quickly get used to it & also it will allow you to get around & see a lot more. The Big tip is.dont be afraid to drive over there on the "other side of the road" in the USA. So all in all, we found the Hilton Garden Inn El Segundo to be a really clean comfortable place to us to come "home" to and crash & recover after a hectic day and/or night of touring around! We'll definately be staying there again next time we visit LA. Wait staff at breakfast also gave exceptional service too. Staff at front desk/check in & out were friendly & helpfull when & if we requested anything. Our room was very QUIET as well,no airplane noise which was great as that had been my only concern with it being close to the airport but no problems at all in that respect. There was a laundry there which came in handy as well as a free business centre with computers & printer that you could use too. Nice comfortable beds and a clean modern bathroom. We had stayed at HGI in New York & also Atlanta on other trips so that also helped knowing & finding that the quality of rooms were similar to those we had been happy with before. Small Fridge,Microwave & tea /coffee facilites in room,Flat Screen TV with plenty of channels,Ergonomic Chair & desk with free wireless internet connection too. Our room was, clean & well presented with the usual layout found in a Hilton Garden Inn. With plenty of free parking also included in thier rate, it meant that as a total package the Hilton Garden Inn worked out better than many other Hotels whose inital price seemed cheap but you then had with no or poor continental breakfasts and alsohad to add on the huge amounts they charged parking your car there to get a real comparison. Far better than the "free" rather poor continental breakfasts offered at many of the other hotels. We noticed when pricing around for rooms that at the HGI that there were many different options depending on which website or agent you used or who you were booking through, but in our case found we got the best overall deal going direct & choosing the rate that included the breakfast which was well & truely worth the little extra we paid. Not too far to drive in to a Lakers game that we were attending either. Also found there was easy acess to get on major roads as well. However in this case we had checked in to stay after driving down the coast highway from San Francisco over a couple of days & nights as the Plan was to base ourselves there at the Hotel while we did our thing sightseeing around LA,Hollwood & surrounding areas. We had stayed in or close to LA a year earlier at the Shelter near Hollywood but were not entirely happy with the Hotel & location so researched a bit more this time & seemed that the Hilton Garden Inn ticked all the boxes for what we were looking for in a Hotel and after staying there can now say for sure & certain that this time we made the right decision! Location of the hotel is close to airport which can be handy especially as they do have the free shuttle running so we will be keeping that in mind for any future trips, especially when flying into or out of LA. We spent 4 nights here during the 4th leg of our 5 week trip to the USA earlier in March this year. Thanks to the insight of band conductor Robert Cameron, concert bands now can experience the beauty of Biebl’s music. As such, this piece has also been adapted for mixed choir and women’s choir as well. Having been included on various recording projects and in the standard repertoire of the popular vocal group Chanticleer, Biebl’s Ave Maria has since enjoyed tremendous popularity. American audiences first became familiar with Biebl’s music through a performance by the Cornell University Glee Club, a group which brought this work to the U.S. Completed in 1964 at the request of a firemen’s choir in Fürstenfeldbruck, this beautiful piece was originally intended for seven-part men’s chorus. Perhaps Biebl’s best known work is Ave Maria. The only editing which has been made are the addition of limited octave doublings and the addition of bar lines in order to facilitate performance of the freestyle chant sections. This adaptation is a transcription rather than an arrangement in that every attempt has been made to preserve every possible detail of the original. The version utilized in this transcription, however, is the version for mixed choir selected because it better matches the registration of the wind ensemble or symphonic band.
